My Review (Spoiler Free):

A few weeks ago my love for manga finally came back after months of not reading any graphic novels so I went a bit crazy and ordered some cool standalones. This was one of them.

The Gods Lie is about a boy named Nanao that falls in love with a quiet girl named Rio and spends his time with her and her little brother whom she takes care all by herself.

Since the start I was able to see some things were bothering me. I know the over-fragility of females it’s common expecially in manga but It’s definitely not for me and I would like to see a change in that. Even though in the beginning Rio is portrayed as this exceptionaly strong child she later becomes super vulnerable in the presence of Nanao which was annoying and honestly, old-fashioned.

The plot is unexpected. At the beginning nothing made me think that this book would be more than just an emotional ride of both happiness and sadness but some later events really catched me off guard when they came out of nowhere. It was so abrupt that there was no logic to it.

But not all is bad. There were moments where I laughed out loud which is so rare for me to do in a book and I must admit that this book is indeed a ride full of hidden emotions that will come to you out of nowhere.

I cannot say I was blown away by this manga but it definitely had enjoyable parts and was a pleasant experience overall.
